Staffed living

Staffed living

Clements Centre operates three staffed homes, each with unique characteristics but sharing a common goal: to provide a caring, supportive environment that helps people achieve their highest level of independence.

Our approach enhances all areas of life, including:

  • Satisfaction with the home environment

  • Health and personal care

  • Recreation and leisure

  • Spiritual and cultural interests

  • Building and maintaining relationships with family, friends, and co-workers

  • Exploring and participating in the community

  • Developing skills for home, community, or work

  • Education and work experience

  • Volunteering in the community

Individualized support

Wherever possible, individuals are involved in the selection of staff who support them in daily living activities. Personal comfort levels and preferences are always respected.

To ensure quality services, individuals and their families are encouraged to participate in planning and decision-making. Each service plan reflects individual goals, which are reviewed on a regular basis.

Qualified staff

All staffed homes are licensed and monitored by the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA). Staff members are required to have:

  • Community Support Worker Certificate or equivalent

  • First Aid with CPR certification

  • Foodsafe certification

  • Class 4 driver’s licence

  • Criminal Record Search

  • Satisfactory tuberculosis test

Staffed Home Managers must also complete Management Development for Community Settings certification (or equivalent leadership training) and obtain certification as Person-In-Charge by the Vancouver Island Health Authority.

We seek staff who:

  • Understand the theories, values, and practices of community living

  • Can provide personalized support and teach life skills

  • Communicate effectively

  • Work well both independently and as part of a team
